MPPT is the term for Maximum Power Point Tracking. The implementation of this term is of use with green energy sources like solar photovoltaic cells or wind turbine. They are the center points for generating energy in these devices. When you have creation of power along the surface, it is not always equivalent everywhere. This is where we need to use the maximum power point tracking technology. As the name suggests, it is a system developed for maximizing the power extraction from solar cells. It is also used in other devices to extract power under all conditions.
Maximum Power Point Tracking System is basically a device. This device has an algorithm with which it takes instructions and works upon. Then, attaching the device to the green energy source. Why Maximum Power Point Tracking
Solar systems and other green energy sources like wind turbines work under natural circumstances. They are not always accurate. This is because their performance is dependent on so many factors around them. For example in the case of the Solar system, the sun is not always visible. Sometimes it is covered by clouds. Sometimes only partial sunlight is available because of light clouds. In winter season sunlight is not as intense as summer season because the earth gets tilted as we all know.
How Wind Turbines And MPPT Are Related
Similarly, wind turbines are completely dependent on the speed of the wind. Blowing speed of the wind is not something that is always constant. Sometimes it can be too fast and at other times it can be very slow. This is where MPPT comes into use.
Varying natural conditions can always affect the performance of the natural energy device. They are a better source to rely on for energy. However, they are not as consistent in a performance like other energy produces methods are. For example, electricity produced from dynamos and electric motors, engines running on fuel like petrol and diesel.
Although, they require heavy force to produce electricity or consume petroleum products. Petrol is a non-renewable source. This means that there is only a limited amount of petrol available on earth. This is where we need to use and improve green energy devices. This technology is a step in that direction.
Using It For Maximizing Green Energy Output
There are times when conditions like sunlight and wind speed are not at its peak. Then, different points on the natural green energy device produce different levels of voltage. This voltage does not produce electricity on its own. The charge, taken to the battery. Then in association with the solar panel or wind turbine to charge the battery. This is where we need MPPT.
MPPT or Maximum Power Point Tracking device has an algorithm. This helps the device in determining the maximum voltage output available on different points. The point which has maximum voltage available is chosen to send the electricity from to the battery charging terminal.
Importance Of MPPT
Green energy is very important for our future generations. If we need energy then solar and wind are going to be available in the long run. The reason behind this statement is that they are renewable sources of energy. We have a limited amount of petrol available and someday we will run out of petrol. But we are not likely to run out of solar power or wind. In order to use the technology of any kind, we do need electrical energy. This is where MPPT is very useful as it manages and maximizes energy production from green energy sources.
